Angel of the Amazon
Published in Paperback by Ambassador-Emerald, Intl. (01 September, 1997)
Average review score:

From Belfast to BrazilA thoroughly uplifting read. It is not often that one man has done so much for so many. The life of Bill Woods as related by his friend and colleague Victor Maxwell, reveals the medical missionary as the man he is. From his humble beginnings in war time Northern Ireland to his international status as a leading expert on the treatment of leprosy. Many trials and difficulties had to be faced and overcome with God's unfailing help, and in the process the deep heart, devotion to men's spiritual as well as physical needs, and his keen sense of humour, if not to say accident proneness, all shine through. Whoever picks up this book to read it will be challenged and encouraged; they will laugh and cry; they will be the better for it. An absolute 'can't put it down'.

Angus Thought He Was Big-Small Book

Average review score:

Perfect for PreschoolersAfter 13 years of teaching preschool, Angus Thought He Was Big is still one of my favorites! It is ideal for ages 2 to 4. Children can enjoy it first for the wonderful art, and as they get older they can enjoy exploring the concept of size.

Animal Parade: A Wildlife Alphabet
Published in Paperback by Antique Collectors Club (December, 1999)
Average review score:

Toddler son loves this book!If you have a child in your life who adores animals, she or he will love this book. My 2 year old son is fascinated by the wide variety of animals including favorites like elephants, giraffes and zebras. I like the charming illustrations. Although my son likes the animals, we sometimes focus on the letters of the alphabet, as it is an alphabet book, too!

The Annotated Walden: Walden or Life in the Woods
Published in Hardcover by Clarkson N. Potter (October, 1977)
Average review score:

The Finest Edition of Walden I've come acrossThis book, edited by Philip Van Doren Stern, is a dream come true for diehard Thoreauvians (like myself). If you think you know everything about Thoreau's Walden, think again. This book is full of fascinating footnotes that shed light on particular turns of phrase and allusions that one thought one had grasped. The footnotes are particularly illuminating in re turns of phrases that have gone out of style. To learn, for instance, that train wrecks and such were commonly referred to as "melancholy accidents" in the papers of the time, lends an otherwise missing mordant wit to Thoreau's criticism of the railroad when he says that "it will be perceived that a few are riding while the rest are run over-and it will be called, and will be, 'A Melancholy Accident'."-Absolutely delightful! Why is this book out of print with so many purported lovers of Thoreau out there?!?

A Review from the Author! Here is a collection of sermons which I preached during my tenure as the pastor at the Hopewell Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of New Albany, Mississippi. If you are a conservative Christian who truly loves the Word of God ... If you are one who believes that the Bible is really true ... If you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for your salvation ... then you will enjoy this collection of over fifty works! If you are not a believer in our Lord and Savior, our King and Master Jesus Christ, then here is one way to become introduced to Him. There is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved! Do YOU know my Lord today?

An Archer's Inner Life: A Collection of Essays on the Wood Bow
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (March, 2001)
Average review score:

For Intelligent ReadersDave Sigurslid's "An Archer's Inner Life" is a breath of fresh air in a genre--"outdoor literature"--that's largely stale and stupid. Certainly, as the title proclaims, the books is about archery--most specifically, "traditional" archery using hand-carved wood bows and arrows. It's also about hunting, offering a courageous and dead-on critique from within the ranks. But this book is far more than either of these things--it's a sophisticated treatment of human psychology, sociology and philosophy by a writer (who's also an M.D. but makes small of that fact)who's given these topics far more thought than most of us, and knows how to say what he thinks in creative, innovative prose. I love the stories, the messages, and the writing style. Highly recommended for intelligent readers. Bubbas need not apply.

Art From the UK: Angela Bulloch, Willie Doherty, Tracey Emin, Douglas Gordon, Mona Hatoum, Abigail Lane, Sarah Lucas, Sam Taylor-Wood, Rachel Whitread
Published in Hardcover by Ingvild Goetz (15 February, 2001)

a credible book to credit great artworkI found this book ot be an excellent asset to my collection of modern british art. I thought that the large amount of content was covered thouroghly, but not drawn out to get stale(just like the artwork itself, discussed). This is a very important book because it recaps all of what is happening with the yBa movement in the artworld. This book is for anyone who wants to be on top of the world of modern art.
